Avenues of Thought?


I wonder, as I wander my avenues of thought,
Why it is that we do not see; we are not blind.
We seem to go on as if we were indestructible,
Not desiring to know; we own a selective mind.

Why do we still hesitate to act when it’s so warranted?
Prophets have spoken, pleaded, down through the ages,
To make us hear, and to do what God knows we need.
But in our self-reliance, we still block out these sages.

Our minds of ‘know-it-all’, or, ‘maybe-sometime-later’,
Cause devastation so vast we’ve brought Creation grief.
To respond now is crucial; we have waited far too long.
We must act against the tides of uncaring, and disbelief.

Oh, God your love and wisdom we cannot fully fathom,
Help us hear the warnings, know that we must choose.
Those who know ~ sound the gong to wake us up to act.
Stop violence against each other, or creation will lose.

Our violation of the planet causes suffering that’s real!
Water is a precious gift given in trust for all, not a few.
Children are treasures rare that we thrust into our fears,
Denying love; but love and fear don’t co-exist; it’s true.

According to ancient Scriptures, ‘there is no fear in love’,
And what ‘we sow we also reap’, that’s obvious enough.
We need to change our ways of living with each other,
Work with God and watch love heal even what’s tough.

In preying on each other, creation itself, now even space,
Life, as known could end; why not make love the leaven?
Thoughts no longer are enough; we’re called to action now,
Love alone creates Earth anew, and thus, the New Heaven.
