FRIDAY FIVE
...Sweet Summer Blessings...
1. What is your sweetest summer memory from childhood? Did it involve watermelon or hand cranked ice cream? Or perhaps a teen summer romance. Which stands out for you?
Sweetest memory...Hmmm, going to Summer Camp! And all that contains: singing, camp fires, canoeing, sleeping out.....very much an influence of what to be about, but also I figured some of it had to be let go..to be well rounded.
When working at another camp, as an older teen...19, I did have my first romance.
2. Describe your all time favorite piece of summer clothing. The one thing you could put on in the summer that would seem to insure a cooler, more excellent day.
I had a cute skirt with a waist that was stretchy and part of the skirt..not sewn in. It had frill too..just a cute skirt for a little girl. Light blue and white, easy to wash and wear and too cool. A little white blouse worn with it... made it cool, crisp, a great heat buster.
3. What summer food fills your mouth with delight and whose flavor stays happily with you long after eaten?
Popsicles! French fries in a cone cup, at the beach near my grandmother's home! Fruits juicy, sweet and coool drinks. All fresh fruits, peaches, strawberries, bluberries, corn on the cob...what the summer brings in fresh.
4. Tell us about the summer vacation or holiday that holds your dearest memory.
1967! Canada's Centennial year. A friend and I went out to the west coast. I had never flown before and could hardly walk off the plane. My legs were so weak. It was the circling in to land that did that. The mountains were awesome. Emerald Lake, Jasper, Vancouver, Victoria, then back to Saskatoon, and home.....with 15 cents left between us. Just 10 cents to call home for a ride....whew!
5. Have you had any experience(s) this summer that has drawn you closer to God or perhaps shown you His wonder in a new way?
The wonder of being alive; watching China welcome the world...hopefully with more changes coming for the people there & remembering not one Nation has an 'A' in human rights. When we all do....heaven will have arrived in full!
Knowing that sabbath time is essential for a healthy balance in life...for all humans.
Taking part in "The Handshake" going a round the globe via Avaaz to Beijing...and its calling for talks regarding Tibet. The Hankshaking was a suggestion of the Dalai Lama. See the UTube for a video....what joy is being spread in that simple touch of hand to hand. In it seems to be the Creator God we believe in so much... loves all peoples.
Bonus question: When it is really hot, humid and uncomfortable, what do you do to refresh and renew body and spirit?
Fans! Cool beverages...mainly water (tap water) in my own bottle, or glass. Lying low and still. Or, going to a cool (air-conditioned) place to eat with friends. My doctor suggested years ago, to 'go to a Mall when it gets unbearable, rather than stay at home and fry'. Good advice!

That's a reminder I needed. Thank you.
Great play!
